Boiler Upgrade Scheme or BUS Grant

As MCS accredited installers, we can apply for the BUS grant for eligible clients. Certified by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), we adhere to high standards in installing renewable energy systems.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) grant offers financial assistance, a grant of £7500 to homeowners for installing energy-efficient heating solutions.

By applying for this grant on behalf of our clients, we help reduce the initial costs of upgrading their heating systems, making sustainable energy more affordable.

What is the Boiler upgrade scheme?

This scheme offers grants to help homeowners in upgrading their old, inefficient boilers to newer, more energy-efficient models. The initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions and lower energy bills, contributing to environmental sustainability and financial savings for residents.

What you’ll get from the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

You’ll be able to get:

£7,500 off the cost and installation of an air or ground source heat pump

You may be eligible if you:

  • live in England or Wales
  • own the property (including if its a business, a second home, or a property you rent out to tenants)
  • your replacing a fossil fuel heating system such as gas, oil, electric or LPG

The property will need to have:

  • A valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) with no outstanding recommendations for loft or cavity wall insulation (unless you have an insulation exemption)
  • An installation capacity up to 45kWth (this covers most homes)
  • New build properties will not normally be eligible. The only exception is if you’re building
    your own home.

We will advise whether a low carbon heating system is suitable for your property.

If you’re replacing an existing low carbon heating system

Funding will not be available for the replacement of existing low carbon heating systems.

Only properties which are fully replacing existing fossil fuel systems (such as oil, gas or direct electric) will be eligible for support

How the scheme works

The scheme is designed to minimise the amount of work property owners need to do. It is ‘installer-led’, which means we your MCS accredited installer will:

  • make a BUS application  on your behalf
  • liaise with Ofgem on most matters related to the scheme
  • tell Ofgem when we have installed your heating system
  • claim the money from Ofgem at the end of the project

Recently moved to the area and the previous owner of our Cottage recommended Matt to look after and service the oil boiler. Excellent! Punctual, friendly and did a great service job. Helped us to understand our heating.

What a 1st class service! Every service and installation we have had has been a wonderful experience from start to finish. Amazing workmanship and skill, complemented with politeness and tidiness at the end of each day. We highly recommend this company. Simply the best

I can’t rate this company highly enough. We were recommended to use them. Matt answered our calls promptly and arrived quickly and when he said he would. He is extremely knowledgeable and explained what he needed to do so that I understood. He repaired our system and serviced our boiler. It has taken us years to find a good plumber and I most definitely will use him moving forward.

Worked with Matt and the team for around 12 years at this point on everything from our big refurb to leaky taps. Nothing but good things to say - friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and reliable. Very much recommended 😊
